Salone del Mobile ’17

Salone Internazionale del Mobile Milano (Milan Forniture Fair) just came to its end, this year with a record score: 343 thousands visitors. As always this largest forniture fair in the world gave us hints and trends on home decor and interior design.

The focus is also on new designers on the scene and this year is the 20th birthday of SaloneSatellite an oportunity for under35 talents to show their creations. The 650 young artists were given a theme named “design is…?”  and partecipated to SaloneSatellite Award. Those are the best 3 who made it through:

1st Prize:  COMMA STOOL/CHAIR by Pistacchi Design (Taiwan)

This is a public chair showing a new concept of Urban Design made of contrasting materials and shaped like a modern sculpure. It is quite seductive!

2nd Prize: X BENCH by Edmond Wong Studio (China)

This two-seater bench turns into a training bench. The dual use creation gives the oportunity to have a gym at home even in small environments

3rd Prize: √čo by Tanya Repina (Russia)

An absorbing-sound wall made up of pine needles and biodegradable blinder. It creates an indor forest and it also reples insects and germs. It has been awarded for its innovation and sustainability.

SaloneSatellite is for sure the best springboard for those new designers and the best way to connect young talents to international companies interested in their projects. As a matter if fact, many of the prototypes presented in the past years were successfully produced and the emerging designers are now well known names in the design world.

Congratulations to those who partecipated and of course to the winners!
